The New Life- Time Passing and New Years Promises

Wow, 2 years have passed since I wrote my last entry. So much has happened, my family has grown, this time by adoption, we are getting ready to move from this state that we both grew up in. Life is continuing to move quickly and busily. And we are ready to take on this new year with many new ideas.
"Simple" is the new word in our life. After adding our precious Yu Lin to our family everything began to be too much. School was too much, constantly running was too much, life got to be too much. For the first time we had a child that had to go to school. Our intention was to homeschool him.
Im flying past. Let me stop and retrace our steps for the last two years.
We followed Gods calling and began the process of adoption. God had a very specific plan for us and we just walked through his doors. After a lot of craziness, we found our sweet son on a China adoption advocacy page on Facebook.
His file said, "blind, hydrocephalus". Eight months after we clapped eyes on our son we picked him up in China and brought him back to live with us. We knew immediately that his needs were way more than we could handle at home. He had not had therapy in his 5 years in China. Everyone who met him felt that his potential was there but he needed to be jump started in school. We put him into a school for children with severe developmental delays. He has therapy most of the time he is at school and we cant wait to see what God has in store for him.
Our simple homeschool life got way more complicated. Now we had time that we had to be home, there were field trips that he would miss. Having him in our family but not with us is hard. But we accepted that this is was God has for him right now.
After a couple weeks of him coming home I got this very strange feeling. It was like God was telling me that I needed to get rid of all my crap. That was interesting, I thought. But I ignored it and waited. A week later my husband came home and said, we need to get rid of everything. So we did. We had no idea then what God had planned. After a couple months my husband called me. His factory was closing and we would be moving our family down to Johnstown PA.
So that brings you up to date.
Over the past 7 months, since we brought Yu Lin home, we have fallen into a routine of lazy living. Lots of processed foods, lots of movies and video games, bible only when we can get to it. That last one is especially challenging because we are between churches(another long story I will not get into here).
So with the New Year we are making some promises. The number one is no more Lazy Living. Back to simple and purposeful. Simplify life and live a life of purpose. As the months go on I will share what that looks like for us. Joyful New Year and may your days be Merry and Bright. God bless you.
